Carol Jane Lay (Hartville)'s Obituary
Carol Jane Lay, daughter of Theodore and Marie Mathews Glenn, was born August 16, 1936 in Pocatello, Idaho. She departed this life December 13, 2012, in Mercy Hospital, Springfield, Missouri, at the age of seventy-six years, three months, and twenty-seven days.
On November 20, 1954, Carol was united in marriage to Grady Lay, and together they have shared the past fifty-eight years.
Carol was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Theodore Glenn, and a granddaughter, Lisa Anne Randolph.
She is survived by her husband Grady of the home; four children, Ronald Lay of Edmond, Oklahoma, Rhonda Hale of San Diego, California, Raymond Lay of Searcy, Arkansas, and Roxene Davis of Herford, Texas; ten grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; and a sister, Shirley Taylor, of Monroe, Georgia; as well as a host of other relatives and many dear friends.
Carol was born in Idaho and moved with her family at an early age to Kansas City. She moved to California at the age of thirteen and graduated from Pasadena City College. Following her retirement as a legal secretary, Carol and Grady moved to Arkansas in 1984 and to Missouri in 1999 to make their home. She enjoyed quilting and had made many prize winning quilts throughout the years including the Arkansas State Blue Ribbon.
Carol was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and accomplishments and will cherish the many wonderful memories she has created for her family and many dear friends.
