Carol June Pearson (Seymour)'s Obituary
Carol June Pearson, loving wife of Duane Kenneth “D.K.” Pearson, peacefully departed this life Sunday, March 30, 2014, at her rural Seymour home with family at her side. Carol was eighty years, eight months and nineteen days of age. One of nine children born to Elmer Robert and Velda Irene (Hunt) Mix, she was born July 11, 1933, in Monticello, Illinois.
In addition to her parents, Carol was preceded in death by her son, Paul Pearson; her daughter, Diane Elam; and her grandson, Derrick Hay; five sisters, Judy, Linda, Opal, Flo and Fran; and brother, Dean. Carol leaves behind her devoted husband of nearly 59 years, D.K. Pearson; sons, Mark Pearson of Ozark, Missouri; Steven Pearson of Omaha, Nebraska; and Mike Pearson and wife Ildako, of Crane, Missouri; daughters, Cheri McCormack and husband Kent, of Seymour, Missouri; and Debi Hay and husband Chris, of Rocky Comfort, Missouri; daughter-in-law, Mary Pearson of Cape Fair, Missouri; son-in-law, Neal Elam of Springfield, Missouri; twenty grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; sister, Doris White of DeLand, Illinois; and brother, Roger Mix of Clinton, Illinois; and many more nieces, nephews, extended family, friends and neighbors. Carol and D.K. met in Bloomington, Illinois, through mutual friends and after thirty days of courtship, they knew they would marry and did so six weeks later on May 28, 1955. They moved to rural Webster County in 1972, and bought a farm to raise horses, dairy cows and build a life for their seven children. Carol was a dedicated farm wife and homemaker and devoted mother to her children. In her spare time she truly enjoyed crocheting and spent the summer months gardening. Carol Pearson will be remembered as a strong and hard-working woman for all of her years. She was a loyal and devoted wife, an adored and loving mother and grandmother, a caring sister and true friend. We take this time on this day to honor her life and the legacy she leaves behind. Carol – wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend – will be so deeply missed by all who were blessed enough to know and love her.
