In 1953, she was united in marriage to Charles Howe and to this union three daughters and one son were born. Charles passed away in 2011.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her step-father, Edward Kramer; a daughter, Rose Marie Howe; and three brothers, Rick, Max and Neal Wallace.
“Carole”, as she was called by her family and friends, is survived by two daughters, Shannon Cribbs, and her husband, Phillip, of Lebanon, Missouri, and Julie Gray, of Lafayette, Indiana; a son, Brian Howe, of Traverse, Michigan; six grandchildren, Colin, Forrest, Maya, Jennifer, Boady, and Deacon; two great-grandchildren, Guiliane, and Sloan; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
She was raised in Frankfort, Indiana and graduated from high school there. She then earned her nurses’ aide certification. In the mid 1960’s, she moved to Michigan where she worked as a Nurses’ Aide at the Michigan State Hospital in Traverse City, Michigan. During this time, she was also a devoted homemaker to her family. After retiring from the State Hospital, she moved to Florida for awhile and to Illinois for a time before moving to Lebanon, Missouri a few months ago.
Carole had made her profession of faith in Christ and was baptized in the Church of the Brethren and attended there early in her life.
She was a published author of poetry, and a children’s book, an award winning artist, and had a black belt in Hapkido. She was also a genius at Bingo, and had a love for all animals. Her family was very dear to her and she especially enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Carole was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and know that her family and friends will cherish the wonderful memories she created for them during her eighty-two years.
