Caroline Detherage (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Caroline Lee Detherage, daughter of Emmett and Catherine Buffinberger Engle, was born September 3, 1947, in Hartford City, Indiana. She departed this life Tuesday, December 30, 2014, in Mercy Hospital, in Springfield, Missouri, at the age of sixty-seven years, three months, and twenty-seven days.
On September 7, 1963, she was united in marriage to Lilburn Detherage, and to this union two daughters and one son were born.
She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant daughter, Jeannette Detherage; an infant son, Sean Detherage; a brother, Eddie Engle; and a sister, Mary Murphy.
Caroline is survived by her husband, Lilburn, of the home; a daughter, Stephanie Welch, and her husband, Nathen, of Lebanon, Missouri; two granddaughters, Jessie Detherage and Whisper Kane; two brothers, Jim Engle, of the State of Maryland, and Bob Engle, of Gaston, Indiana; two sisters, Joan Jordan, of Flint, Michigan, and Martha Hartley, of Hartford City, Indiana; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
She was raised in Blackburd County, Indiana and received her education there. Soon after she and Lilburn were married, they moved to Lebanon, Missouri and made their home. In addition to being a devoted homemaker to her husband and family, Caroline also worked for Justice Furniture Company for several years.
Caroline had professed her faith in Christ and was a member of the Cowboy Church in Lebanon.
In her spare time she enjoyed bowling and playing bingo. Her family was very dear to her and she especially enjoyed having time with her granddaughters.
Caroline was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and know that her family and friends will cherish the wonderful memories she create for them during her lifetime.
A memorial has been established and donations may be left at the funeral home.
