Carolyn R. Heintz (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Carolyn Ripley Heintz passed away peacefully on August 20, 2018, in Conway, Missouri, surrounded by her family.
Carolyn was born in Williams Bay, Wisconsin, on May 2, 1924, to Helen Crandall and Caryl Ripley, and grew up along the shores of Geneva Lake in southeastern Wisconsin. After high school, Carolyn went to work at the Elgin watch factory in Elgin, Illinois, manufacturing not watches, but fuses for artillery, to aid in the WWII effort. Carolyn then joined the Woman's Army Corps (WAC) and was honorably discharged at the end of WWII.
Utilizing the GI bill, Carolyn attended Arcadia University in Jenkintown, Pennsylvania and graduated in 1950. Following Route 66, Carolyn and her mother traveled to California and Carolyn went to work as a registered dietitian at the VA hospital in Los Angeles.
Carolyn met her future husband, Earl, on a UCLA Geographic Society camping trip and they were married in 1952. Carolyn and Earl lived in Los Angeles until 1974, when they traveled Route 66 to Conway, Missouri.
Carolyn loved her family, dogs, hiking, camping, and was an avid reader. In later years, Carolyn enjoyed attending Silver Sneakers yoga class and the Art Guild reader's group in Lebanon, with many dear friends. Carolyn was fortunate to have only missed her last two yoga classes before she passed away.
Carolyn is survived by her husband, Earl, of nearly 65 years, and son Todd of Conway, Missouri, and a daughter, Arlene, of Waxahachie, Texas.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Lebanon, Missouri, with no services planned at this time.
