Carolyn Newman's Obituary
arolyn Rae Newman, daughter of Larry Daniel and Joan Corrine Beherrell Jones, was born October 20, 1961, in Lynn, Massachusetts. She departed this life Saturday, March 29, 2008, in St. Mary’s Mercy Medical Center, in Rogers, Arkansas at the age of forty-six years, five months, and nine days. On June 7, 1986, she was united in marriage to Gregg Olen Newman and to this union two sons were born. Her mother preceded her in death. Carolyn is survived by her husband, Gregg, of the home; two sons, Cole Allen Newman and Brian Dalton Newman, both of the home; her father, Larry Jones, of Lebanon, Missouri; two brothers, Richard Jones, of Barnhart, Missouri, and Mark Jones, of Lebanon, Missouri; a sister, Judy Hoelzer, and her husband, Rod, of Fenton, Missouri; her maternal grandmother, Ella Beherrell, of Haverhill, Massachusetts; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends. She was born in Massachusetts and was raised in Rhode Island before moving with her family to Fenton, Missouri in 1966. After graduating from high school, Carolyn earned her Bachelors Degree in Psychology from Southwest Missouri State University, where she met and fell in love with Gregg. Soon after they were married, they made their home in Springfield and then moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma in 1997. While planning and starting a new business, Carolyn and Gregg moved to Rogers, Arkansas and opened a beauty supply store which they operated for over nine years. Since selling their business, Carolyn became a full-time mother and enjoyed pursuing her pastimes. Carolyn received Jesus as her Lord and Savior as a young woman, and renewed her profession of faith the week before her passing. In her spare time she enjoyed making, wearing and collecting jewelry, flower gardening, reading, boating, skiing, swimming, motorcycle riding, and walking her dog, Brody. Carolyn had a passion for lighthouses, and appreciated visiting them, collecting lighthouse mementoes and learning about them. She was a very organized and focused person, yet loved to laugh. Above all else, Carolyn enjoyed spending time with her family, whether it was going to the movies, “hanging out” with Cole, or watching Brian play football. Carolyn was a loving wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, and granddaughter, and was a caring neighbor and friend. Her passing was sudden and unexpected, but the wonderful memories she created for her family and friends will live on forever. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, April 3, 2008, in the Holman-Howe Funeral Home, Lebanon. Entombment will be in Mount Rose Memorial Park Mausoleum. Visitation will be held Wednesday evening from 7 - 8:30 p.m. under the direction of Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Lebanon, Missouri. Return to top
