Carroll "Gene" E. Jones (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Carroll Eugene Jones, son of Haley and Mary Packum Jones, was born July 29, 1945, in Purdon, Missouri. He departed this life Friday, May 12, 2017, in Mercy Hospital, in Springfield, Missouri, at the age of seventy-one years, nine months, and fourteen days.
On February 1, 1992, he was united in marriage to Teresa J. Broyles, and they shared the last twenty-five years.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Russell Blender; and a sister-in-law, Mary Blender.
“Gene”, as he was called by his family and friends or “Bud”, as he was called by the kids, is survived by his loving wife, Teresa, of the home; two daughters, Vickie Sisson, and her husband, Chris, of the State of Texas, and Carla Garner, and her husband, Mickie, of the State of Michigan; a son, Joe Williams, and his wife, Joni, of Lebanon, Missouri; three grandchildren, Jaylie, Jayden, and Jacob; a brother, Johnny Blender, of Lebanon, Missouri; a sister, Faye Scibencher, of Lebanon, Missouri; a sister-in-law, Missy Broyles, of Licking, Missouri; three nieces and three nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
He was raised in the Lebanon, Missouri area and graduated from Lebanon High School. His first job was at a bowling alley in Lebanon. He made his home in St. Charles, Missouri, where he worked for the Singer Corporation for thirty years. He served his country faithfully in the United States Army National Guard for several years. After retiring from Singer’s, he moved back to Lebanon and made his home. He and Teresa met and were soon married, and Gene worked for Tracker Marine for twelve years. He worked for Hocker Oil Company in Lebanon for a time and then finished his working days at O’Reilly Auto Parts.
Gene had made his profession of faith in Christ and attended Liberty Freewill Baptist Church near Lebanon.
In his spare time he liked fishing, cutting wood, and going to the races. He had enjoyed bowling when he was younger. He was a people person who never met a stranger and had an unforgettable personality. He held strong to his convictions and could be a bit stubborn at times. He loved his family very much and especially enjoyed his grandchildren.
Gene was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and his accomplishments and know that his family and friends will treasure the great memories he made for them during his lifetime.
Memorial donations to the American Cancer Society may be made through the funeral home.
