Catharine L. Allington (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Catharine Lucinda Allington was born March 26, 1928 in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania to Elmer E. and Grace M. Boyer Scheaffer. She passed away Saturday, January 25, 2025 at Lebanon South Nursing and Rehab in Lebanon, Missouri. Catharine was ninety-six years, nine months and thirty days of age.
Catharine spent her early years in Pennsylvania and was raised by her grandparents on the family farm. She loved animals and enjoyed being on the farm.
Following her high school graduation, Catharine attended college for two years and was a bookkeeper in Baltimore, Maryland before moving to New Mexico. She met her husband, Ellsworth “Pete” Allington and they were married December 19, 1961. Together they shared over thirty-seven years of marriage before he passed away on February 14, 1999.
In addition to her husband, Pete, Catharine was preceded in death by her parents; her granddaughter, Stephanie Perry; and two brothers, Paul Schaeffer and Kenneth Schaeffer.
She is survived by her children, Georgia Blauch of Camp Hill, Pennsylvania, Barbara Roepe of Edwards, Missouri and Keith Morgan of Creswell, Oregon; three grandchildren, Brian Kirsch, Billie Smith and Cassandra Taylor; and five great-grandchildren, Julie Collett, Ryan Collett, James Collett, Samantha Williams and Justin Williams.
Catharine and Pete would eventually relocate to Versailles, Missouri for a few years before moving to a farm in Lebanon. While in Lebanon, she was a cook at Maple Crest Elementary School for many years. She also served as bookkeeper at The Hughes Center in Lebanon, as well as taught painting and ceramics classes at the Center. She was an active member at Hillcrest Baptist Church.
She was a people person and her life rotated around her family and friends. She had a special friend, Ralph Brown, and they enjoyed going dancing at The Hughes Center and in Conway and Camdenton each week. Her life always revolved around music.
Catharine will be remembered for her kindness, generosity, and determination. She was a hard working lady and always loved her family and friends. We celebrate her life and her accomplishments and know that her family and friends will treasure the wonderful memories she made for them.
Memorial service for Catharine L. Allington will be Monday, February 17, 2025 at Mount Rose Memorial Chapel at 2 p.m.. Burial will follow in Mount Rose Memorial Park.
A memorial to the Hughes Center has been established and donations may be left at the funeral home.
