Catherine Atkins' Obituary
Catherine Louise Atkins, daughter of Henry and Chloe Lawson Richardson, was born July 4, 1934 in West Plains, Missouri. She departed this life Thursday, March 1, 2012 in the Hartville Care Center, Hartville, Missouri, at the age of seventy-seven years, seven months, and twenty-seven days.
Catherine was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Tylman Turner; and two daughters, Connie Sue Turner and Karen Fay Turner.
She is survived by a daughter, Mary Lowder and husband John of Ringwood, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Tina Keller and husband Duane of Edmond, Oklahoma, Tonia McDaris and husband Kevin of Hartville, Missouri, and Jeannie Reynolds of Springfield, Missouri; great-grandchildren, Ashton McDaris, Jaron Keller, Jaiden Keller, Dakoda Reynolds, and Makayla Reynolds; a brother, Jim Richardson and wife Mildred of Branson, Missouri; her dear friends and caregivers at the Hartville Care Center; as well as a number of nieces, nephews, and a host of other relatives and many dear friends.
Catherine was born in West Plains and moved with her family to Springfield in 1939. They moved to Republic after a few years, and later to Walnut Grove, where she attended school. For a number of years, Catherine worked at Lily Tulip in Springfield. After her retirement from Lily Tulip, Catherine moved to Hartville in the early 1980’s to make her home.
Catherine had accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age and attended Rock Chapel Church as long as she was able. She was a member of the Hartville Senior Citizens, enjoying many meals and conversations with her friends there.
In her spare time, Catherine enjoyed visiting with her Great-Grandchildren, playing bingo, various card games, dominos, and watching John Wayne movies. Catherine was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and aunt, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and her accomplishments and will cherish the many wonderful memories she has created for her family and many dear friends.
Funeral services for Catherine L. Atkins will be held at 2 P.M. Sunday March 4, 2012 in Holman-Howe Funeral Home, Hartville, Missouri.
Burial will follow in Steele Memorial Cemetery Hartville, Missouri
No formal visitation will be held.
