Catherine Jones' Obituary
Catherine Ann Jones, daughter of Mike and Theresa Berg Schrekenhofer, was born April 10, 1931, in Lebanon, Missouri. She departed this life Tuesday, March 7, 2006, in St. John’s Hospital, in Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of seventy-four years, ten months, and twenty-seven days. On January 8, 1955, she was united in marriage to Robert Lee Jones, and to this union five daughters and one son were born. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert, on June 14, 1996; and four brothers, George, Carl, Lewis, and Charles Schrekenhofer. Catherine is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Tommy and Sheila Jones, of Grovespring, Missouri; five daughters and sons-in-law, Judy and Roger Teubner, of Grovespring, Missouri, Marilyn and James Bailey, Elizabeth and Raymond Price, Joy and Gary Powell, and Shelly and Danny Henson, all of Lebanon, Missouri; eight grandchildren; three sisters, Mary Freitik, and Marjorie Miller, both of Lebanon, Missouri, and Dorothy Cologna, and her husband, Lewis, of Bremerton, Washington; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends. She was born and raised in the Lebanon area and graduated from Lebanon High School in the Class of 1949. After she and Robert were married, they made their home on their farm in the Grovespring community and lovingly raised their children. Throughout the years, Catherine was a devoted and hardworking homemaker to her family. For the last several years she had made her home in Lebanon to be near more of her children. Catherine enjoyed reading her Bible and had established a personal relationship with her Lord and Savior. She possessed a very giving heart and was always willing to lend a helping hand. In her spare time she enjoyed doing needlepoint, sewing, and shopping. She loved her family dearly and was especially close to her grandchildren. Catherine was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and her accomplishments and will cherish the wonderful memories she created for her family and friends. Services will be held at 10:00 .m. Friday, March 10, 2006, in the Holman-Howe Chapel. Burial will be in the Cuba Cemetery, near Grovespring, Mo. Friends may call at the funeral home at their convenience. Memorial contributions to St. John's Hospice may be made through the funeral home. Services are under the direction of Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Lebanon, Missouri. Jones, Della Jean Kirkland James, 86 Della “Jean” Kirkland James Jones, daughter of Jesse Bennett and Pearl Mae Taylor Kirkland was born July 13, 1919 in Elijah, Ozark County, Missouri. She departed this life Thursday, March 23, 2006 in Lawrence, Kansas at the age of eighty-six years, eight months and ten days. Jean was preceded in death by her parents; her sisters, Delphia Kirkland Coble, Agnes Kirkland Dougherty and Lorene Kirkland Fischer; her brothers, Frank Kirkland and Russell A. Kirkland; her daughter, Wanda James McLaughlin; a grandson, Jason Cunningham and spouses, Fred Jones and Noil Russell James. Surviving Della Jean are her sisters, Doris Kirkland Christianson of Clarinda, Iowa, Eithel Kirkland Dougherty of Rogersville, Missouri, and Frankie Kirkland Rowlett of Gamiliel, Arkansas; her daughters, Donieta James Cunningham of Independence, Missouri, Sonja James Wood, Lawrence, Kansas and three sons, Russell James, of Osceola, Missouri, Lowell “Lou” James, of Climax Springs, Missouri, and James D. James, Tecumseh, Missouri. Della Jean was an independent woman with the strength to follow her convictions. She was adored by her family and was known as “Grandma Jones” to her numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Della Jean spent her professional life as a self-employed beautician beginning in the 1960’s in Avondale, Missouri, and retired as a cattle rancher in Benton County, Missouri. Della Jean’s charitable contributions were appreciated throughout the community and her spirit of friendship was always notable. Jean was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother and aunt. We celebrate her life and accomplishments and will treasure the memories she created for her family and friends. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 25, 2006, in the Drennon Chapel, Climax Springs, Missouri. burial will be in the Climax Springs Cemetery. Visitation will be held Friday evening from 6 - 8:00 p.m. under the direction of Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Camdenton, Missouri. Memorials to Douglas County Hospice may be made through the funera home.
