Catherine is survived by a son, Johnny Ray VanNess and wife, Jennifer, of Rogersville; two daughters, Janet Alexander and husband, Todd, of Avon Lake, Ohio, and Serina McCrea and husband, Travis, of Rogersville; five grandchildren, Samantha, Matthew and Austin all of Rogersville, Ethan and Brynn of Avon Lake, Ohio; great-grandson, Skylar VanNess of Rogersville; four brothers, Charles Wayne Whorton and wife, Sandra, of Columbia, Missouri, Carl Whorton and wife, Cathy of Ava, Clinton Whorton and wife, Trina, and Chet Whorton and wife, Anna all of Mansfield.
She was born in Branson and moved to the family farm near Mansfield in 1958. She attended Mansfield Schools and was a graduate in the Class of 1974. She worked at the H.D. Lee plant in Seymour, attended Vatterott College where she received an associate degree and then went to work at Hiland Dairy in the sales department, where she worked for 19 years until her passing.
Catherine was raised in the Baptist faith, and had been attending the Mansfield Assembly of God Church.
In her spare time she enjoyed baking and gardening. But what she loved the most was spoiling her grandchildren.
Catherine was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and a caring neighbor and friend. We are saddened at her passing, but will always cherish the great times we had together.
