Cecil J. Jenkins (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Cecil J. Jenkins, son of Isaac and Sarah Evans Jenkins, was born February 11, 1933 in Brice, Missouri. He went peacefully to be with the Lord on Sunday, July 19, 2026 at the age of ninety-three years, five months and eight days.
Cecil was born during the Great Depression and his parents instilled in him a lifelong work ethic, resilience and appreciation for the simple blessings in life. He grew up in the Bennett Spring’s area and moved to the Kansas City area in 1952. He was employed at Certainteed Fiberglass and enjoyed a long career with them.
On June 3, 1960, Cecil was united in marriage with the love of his life, Janice Marie Medley. Together they weathered life’s storms and celebrated life’s victories, side by side.
Cecil is preceded in death by his parents, Isaac and Sarah Jenkins; six brothers, Elmer, Elvin, Ethan, Houston, Donald and Barse; seven sisters, Myrtle, Enone, Luvena, Pauline, Anna, Emajean and Alta (Bernice),; and two great-grandsons, Carson and Hudson.
He is survived by his loving wife of sixty-six years, Janice Jenkins; two daughters, Monica Boose of Overland Park, Kansas, Andrea Breier and her husband Michael of Kansas City, Missouri; his son, Russell Jenkins and his wife Heather of Merriam, Kansas; five granddaughters, Cami, Jessica, Amanda, Sarah and Skyler; thirteen great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild.
In his younger years, he raised, trained, and showed Walker Coonhounds and spent many nights hunting and telling stories about his adventures to his children.
Cecil had a passion for antique cars and trucks. He especially enjoyed Chevrolet trucks built in 1969-1972. He restored several old trucks and found great joy in showing his work to family and friends, as well as taking his trucks to area car shows. His real pride and joy was his 1957 Chevy Bel-Air. He had purchased the car brand new and had kept it in pristine condition. It was a beautiful car and he had won first place at “World of Wheels” consistently.
Above all, he loved his family, especially his children and grandchildren. We celebrate his life and his accomplishments and know that his family and friends will treasure the wonderful memories he made with them.
Funeral services for Cecil Jenkins will be Saturday, July 25 at 1 p.m. at Holman-Howe Funeral Home. Visitation will be Saturday from noon until service time. Burial will be in Plad Cemetery. A memorial to Plad Cemetery has been established and donations may be left at the funeral home.
