Cecil Peppers (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Charles Cecil Peppers, son of Floyd and Minnie Poynter Peppers, was born July 3, 1927, near Eldridge, Missouri. He departed this life Wednesday, January 18, 2017, in Lebanon North Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, in Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of eighty-nine years, six months, and fifteen days.
On April 10, 1982, he was united in marriage to Connie Belle Cunningham, and they shared the last thirty-four years.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Keith Peppers; a brother, Aaron Peppers; and a sister, Louise O’Reilly.
Cecil is survived by his wife, Connie, of the home; two daughters, Gail Offutt, and her husband, Steve, of Stoutland, Missouri, and Thelma Jo Grove, and her husband, Marty, of the State of California; a son, Dennis Peppers, and his wife, Lena, of Eldridge, Missouri; a step-daughter, Mary Juergens, and her husband, Donnie, of Brinktown, Missouri; a step-son, Shorty Hays, and his wife, Linda, of Vienna, Missouri; ten grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; a brother, James “Buddy” Peppers, of Camdenton, Missouri; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
He was born and raised in Laclede County and the Lebanon area. He served his country faithfully in the United States Army during World War II. Cecil then owned and operated Peppers Sawmill near Lebanon for fifty years. He also operated a cattle farm near Stoutland, Missouri, where he and Connie made their home for several years. He had a strong work ethic and always liked to be busy.
Cecil made his profession of faith in Christ early in his life and attended Dove Bible Church.
He liked being outdoors where his favorite activities were fishing, hunting, and caring for his farm. He collected arrowheads and antiques, and also liked to travel. He possessed an outgoing personality, was witty, and had a keen sense of humor. His family was very important to him and he made them the center of his life.
Cecil was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, great-great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and know that his family and friends will hold tight to the wonderful memories he made for them during his lifetime.
A memorial has been established to the Hufft Cemetery near Eldridge, Mo.
