Cecil Swanigan (Buffalo)'s Obituary
Cecil William Swanigan, son of the late Odas and Myrtle Jewell (Jackson) Swanigan was born on November 1, 1935 in Celt, MO and departed this life on March 30, 2020 at his home near Windyville, MO. At the time of his passing he was 84 years, 4 months, and 29 days of age.
Cecil was reared and attended school near Celt, MO. After his schooling he helped his father on the farm to support their family. He was united in marriage to Joyce Elliot on April 12, 1959. They made their home in Kansas City, MO and he worked at Cramer Industries in Kansas City, KS for 40 years. After retiring, they moved back to the country where he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and driving his tractor. He was a member of the New Hope Baptist Church.
Cecil was preceded in death by his two sons, Jack Swanigan and James Swanigan; his parents; two brothers, Albert Odas Swanigan and Lloyd James Swanigan; and two sisters, Vivian June Sutton and Pauline Hayes. He is survived by his wife Joyce of the home; two granddaughters, Megan and husband Tyler Clark of Denver, CO and Haley Swanigan of Springfield, MO; one great-grandson, Harrison Clark; one brother, Sydney Swanigan of Urbana, MO; three sisters, Zena & husband Jimmy Hayes of Buffalo, MO, Jewell & husband Don Dryer of Urbana, MO, and Linda & husband Frankie Dryer of Urbana, MO; and a special brother-in-law, Roua and wife Kathy Elliot. He also leaves a host of nephews, nieces, other family members, and many friends who will all truly miss him.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 2, 2020 at the Louisburg Cemetery with Michael Swanigan officiating. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or the American Cancer Society. Services are under the care and direction of the Cantlon-Otterness & Viets Funeral Home of Buffalo. Friends may call Wednesday until 7:00 p.m.
