Celia North (Buffalo)'s Obituary
Celia Sharon North (Bailey) was born on March 22, 1939. She passed away at home on September 26th. She was the one of 6 children born to Joseph and Zella (Harris) Bailey near Palisade, NE. The Bailey family moved to a 2 room, coldwater railroad house right off the Union Pacific mainline. All conversations stopped every few minutes when a train passed by. Celia graduated from Paxton High School in 1958 with a class of 16 students. She met Harry working at the Goodall Electric plant in Ogallala, NE and they married six weeks later.
In 57 years of marriage, the couple moved 13 times throughout Nebraska and Missouri. They kept busy raising 3 kids, camping, and traveling everywhere from Nebraska to Alaska. Any weekend evening they could be found playing cards and enjoying time with friends. Celia worked as a CNA, and she enjoyed bingo and bowling with friends until her health declined this year.
Celia is survived by her husband Harry, children Audrey (Roger, dec) of Grand Island, NE. Shelly (Joe) Jarvis of Lebanon, IN, and Roy (Denise) North of St Charles, MO. Grandchildren Colleen (Andrew) Morris, Ethan (Jessica) Derr, and Catherine Jarvis, and one sister Mona of Grand Island, NE and numerous nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Celia’s life will be held at her most favorite gathering spot, Buffalo Bowl on Tuesday, September 29th at 1 pm, and everyone is welcome to join and share a funny story or inappropriate joke.
