Charlene Walters (Hartville)'s Obituary
Charlene Walters, daughter of Roy Emmerson and Bessie Thornhill Emmerson, was born January 23, 1920 in Isabel, Kansas. She departed this life Monday, February 20, 2017, in the Hartville Care Center, at the age of ninety-seven years, and 28 days
Charlene is preceded in death by her parents and her husband Joe Walters.
She is survived by her loving nephew Chester Huel Walters and his friend Joann Russell and three cousins, Betty Still, Bob Dixon and his wife Helen & Sharon McNealy.
Charlene was born in Isabel, but while she was still at a young age, her family moved to Wright County, Missouri. She attended Flint Hollow grade school and graduated from Seymour High School. While she was working at Fort Leonard Wood, she met and fell in love with Wilson Edward “Joe” Walters. The couple would spend the next fifty-seven years together before Joseph’s passing in 2000. She was a member of Elk Creek Baptist Church and was baptized at a young age.
Charlene visited many homes selling Hazel Keller makeup to all her friends that attended the parties. She was an active member of the Grovespring Senior Citizens before her health kept her from attending and loved to play bingo. Charlene loved her flowers and was always seen out tending to them along with her vegetable garden. She had a warm heart and never met a stranger.
Charlene was loving wife, aunt, neighbor, and friend. We celebrate her life and many accomplishments and will cherish the many wonderful memories she helped create.
