Charles Caufield's Obituary
Charles William Caufield, son of John and Bessie Wolfe Caufield, was born October 22, 1908, near Lebanon, Missouri. He departed this life Monday, November 24, 2008, in Christian Health Care South, in Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of one hundred years, one month, and two days. On September 22, 1930, he was united in marriage to Ruth Evans, and to this union one daughter was born. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Ruth, on August 22, 1989; and seven brothers and sisters. Charles is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Charlene and Lester Pannell, of Lebanon, Missouri; three grandchildren, Troy Pannell, of Springfield, Missouri, Angela Wojak, and her husband, Joe, of New York, New York, and Eric Pannell, and his wife, Dynesha, of Springfield, Missouri; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and many friends. He was born and raised on a farm near Lebanon, and was graduated from Lebanon High School. Early in his adult years, he worked for the railroad and also helped in the construction of Old Route 66. After he and Ruth were married, they made their home on their farm, near Lebanon, and lovingly raised their daughter. For over twenty years Charles worked as a civil service fireman at Fort Leonard Wood, and also was a part time cattle farmer. Charles was a member of St. Frances DeSales Catholic Church in Lebanon. In his spare time he enjoyed gardening and especially growing beautiful roses. He was a gentle man who was always thoughtful of others and had a warm and giving heart. His family was very important to him and he greatly enjoyed his grandchildren. Charles was a loving father, grandfather, and uncle, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his long life and his accomplishments and will treasure the wonderful memories he made for his family and friends. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday November 26, 2008 at the Lebanon Cemetery.Friends may call at the funeral home at their convenience under the direction of the Holman-Howe Funeral Home Lebanon, Missouri.
