Charles Clark's Obituary
Charles Terry Clark, son of Harry and Florence Otstott Clark, was born February 9, 1925, in Athens, Illinois. He departed this life Saturday, May 30, 2009, in St. John’s Hospital, in Springfield, Missouri, at the age of eighty-four years, three months, and twenty-one days. On April 23, 1977, he was united in marriage to Darlene Margaret Brown Jordan, and they shared the last thirty-two years. He was preceded in death by his parents; seven brothers, Elvin, Cletis, Bill, Harold, Gerald, Wayne Edward, and Eugene; and four sisters, Alma, Hazel Elaine, Lulu May, and Jackie. Charles is survived by his wife, Darlene, of the home; a son, Ralph Clark, and his wife, Carol, of Bridgeport, Connecticut; a stepson, David Jordan, of Camarillo, California; seven grandchildren; a sister, Martha Taylor, of Princeton, Illinois; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends. He was born and raised in Illinois, and then joined the military while in his teenage years. He served his country faithfully in the United States Army in a career that spanned twenty-two years. During that time he was stationed in Japan, Korea, Okinawa, and Afghanistan, as well as various locations in the states. After being honorably discharged, he and Darlene lived in Wyoming for awhile before coming to Lebanon three years ago. Charles made his profession of faith in Christ forty-two years ago, and was a member of Ozark Hills Freewill Baptist Church, near Lebanon. He enjoyed music, especially Japanese and Oriental music, and also country western. He possessed a delightful sense of humor and liked telling jokes and teasing people. His family was very important to him and he greatly enjoyed spending time with them. Charles was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and his accomplishments and will treasure the memories he made for his family and friends. Services will be held at 2:00 pm on Thursday June 4, 2009 at the Ozark Hills Freewill Baptist Church. Visitation will be Wednesday evening 7-8:30 pm at the funeral home under the direction of the Holman-Howe Funeral Home Lebanon, Missouri. A memorial has been established to the Ozark Hills Freewill Baptist Church. Donations may be made through the Funeral Home. Return to top
