Charles Lee Holt (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Charles Lee Holt, son of Schuyler C. and Mary Roseann Browning Holt, was born June 2, 1933, in Princeton, Missouri. He departed this life Friday, January 13, 2017, in Mercy Hospital, in Springfield, Missouri, at the age of eighty-three years, seven months, and eleven days.
On February 27, 1955, he was united in marriage to Janice Ilene Haynes, and to this union two daughters and two sons were born.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Herman, Earl D., Lloyd, and Calvin; and a sister, Velma.
Charles is survived by his wife, Janice, of the home; two daughters, Diane Gibbs, and her husband, Bill, and Cathy Light, all of Lebanon, Missouri; two sons, Danny Lee Holt, and his wife, Trina, and Charles David Holt, and his wife, Lynne, all of Lebanon, Missouri; twelve grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; two sisters, Doris Reedy, of the State of Florida, and Clara Rose Cowden, of Kansas City, Missouri; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
He was born and raised in the Princeton, Missouri area. After he and Janice were married, they made their home in Davenport, Iowa for several years. In the mid 1960’s, the family moved back to Lebanon, and Charles owned and operated Holt’s Phillips 66 Service Station on Commercial Street until 1980. He then worked for Wal Mart for ten years. Later, he was employed at Jefferson Package Store until 2014. Charles always farmed on the side and raised cattle and pigs.
In his spare time he liked being outdoors where his favorite activities were hunting, fishing, gardening, and caring for his dogs. In his early years, he enjoyed roller skating. He really liked his tractor and enjoyed using it to do things around the farm. He was a spunky and feisty man who was always willing to help others. He loved his family dearly and especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
Charles was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, great-great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and his accomplishments and know that his family and friends will treasure the wonderful memories he made for them during his eighty-three years.
