Charles "Charlie" Mangan, Jr. (Buffalo)'s Obituary
In the early morning of October 16, 2025, Charles B. Mangan Jr. (83 years young) found comfort in his savior's arms and entered into eternal peace. He was born on February 1, 1942, in New Britain, Connecticut. He was a proud member of the United States Navy on the USS Great Sitkin in the early 60s. He devoted his life to public service with the Town of Newington (CT) EMT, Police and Fire Departments. He served as Commander of the Amvets Post 117 Buffalo, MO and American Legion Post 68, Berlin CT. He was Scout Master for 30 years with the Boy Scouts of America. He cooked for the scouts and was proudly known as "Chuck Wagon Charlie". Charles was predeceased by his parents Charles B. Mangan Sr., and Dorothy Minicucci, his wife of 43 years Ruth Eugenia Mangan, his sister Carol Swetz, and his brother John (Jack) Mangan. He is survived by two sisters, Betty Jane Mangan and Bonnie Theriault, two sons and their wives. Scott and Kristine Mangan and Shawn and Tracy-Lee Mangan. Grandchildren are Amanda-Mae Rivers, Aaron, Nicholas, Michael and Caitlin Mangan, Sarah and Ben Mako, John (Jack) and Hannah. Great-Grandchildren are Charley Faye, Oliver William and Maia Jean Mako. He leaves behind his wife of 14 years, Karen Mangan, step-daughter and son-in-law Cari and John Arretteig and his dog Gizmo. A memorial service will be held at 2-3pm at the Cantlon Otterness & Viets Funeral Home in Buffalo MO, with a Celebration of Life immediately following at the AmVets Post 117, Buffalo MO. To the one we all loved so much, we do not bid farewell but "till we meet again". Arrangements are under the direction of Cantlon-Otterness & Viets Funeral Home, Buffalo.
