Charles McDaniel (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Charles Lilborn McDaniel, son of James William and Laura Edith Hudson McDaniel, was born August 27, 1937, in Center, Arkansas. He departed this life Tuesday, December 21, 2010, in Strafford Care Center, in Strafford, Missouri, at the age of seventy-three years, three months, and twenty-four days.
On April 18, 1959, he was united in marriage to Glenna Raye Brown, and to this union five children were born.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Harold Leroy and J.D. McDaniel; a sister, Hazel Harmon; five brothers-in-law, Otis Harmon, Jack Williams, Freeman Burke, Bill Thomas, and Jack Mangan; and three sisters-in-law, Margaret McDaniel, Carmel Scantlin, and Deloris Thomas.
Charles is survived by two sons, John McDaniel, and his wife, Marsha, and Bruce McDaniel, and his fiancée, Crystal, all of Stoutland, Missouri; three daughters, Sandra Brown, and her husband, Ricky, of Richland, Missouri, Bonnie Sue Keeth, and her husband, Larry, Jr., of Springfield, Missouri, and Charlas Lea Patton, and her husband, Tim, of Stoutland, Missouri; thirteen grandchildren, Timothy and Sam McDaniel, Tamara Imler, Toni VanderPloeg, Tyler Brown, Larry Keeth, III, Larra and Charles Keeth, Derek and Sarah Patton, Destinee, Savannah, and Dawson; eight great-grandchildren; three brothers, Talmage McDaniel, and his wife, A.J., of Richland, Missouri, Donald McDaniel, of Marshfield, Missouri, and Kenneth McDaniel, and his wife, Dalene, of Jefferson City, Missouri; three sisters, Loreata Ellis, and her husband, Kenneth, of Little Rock, Arkansas, Glenna Scott, and her husband, Don, of Waynesville, Missouri, and Deloris Bates, and her husband, Gary, of Springfield, Missouri; five sisters-in-law, Bonnie Williams, Carolyn Fletcher, and her husband, Richard, all of Lebanon, Missouri, Marybelle Burke, of Stoutland, Missouri, Jimmie Capps, and her husband, Bob, of Strafford, Missouri, and Sharon Mangan, of Springfield, Missouri; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
He was raised in the bootheel area of Missouri, and attended school there. After he and Glenna were married, they made their home in the Stoutland community, and lovingly raised their family. Charles worked in the boat manufacturing, used cars, and auto supply business throughout the years. At the time of his retirement, he drove a van for the Head Start Program, and truly enjoyed the children he transported.
Charles made his profession of faith in Christ and was baptized along with his son, John, in July of 1968.
He coached basketball while his son, Bruce, was on the team from third grade through the sixth grade. He was a past member of the Stoutland City Council, the Jaycees, Lions Club, and the Richland Chamber of Commerce. He also served on the Stoutland School Board for nine years.
Charles was a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, brother-in-law, and uncle, and was a caring neighbor and friend. He will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by all those who knew and loved him.
