Charles D. Moore (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Charles Dean Moore, son of Robert “Arch” and Eliza Jane Gourley Moore, was born February 17, 1937, near Grovespring, Missouri. He departed this life Thursday, February 3, 2021, in Lebanon North Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, in Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of eighty-three years, eleven months, and sixteen days.
On October 18, 1955, he was united in marriage to Lois Lee Ward, and they shared fifty-nine happy years. She passed away November 16, 2014.
He was also preceded in death by his parents; a special son-in- law, Danny
“Whitey” Coffey; a granddaughter, Candy Marie Moore; three brothers, Herman, Earnie, and Wilford Moore; and four sisters, Roberta Weaver, Thelma Barker, Audrey Johnson, and Imogene Lindsey.
Charles is survived by two daughters, Geraldine Coffey, of Phillipsburg, Missouri, and Rebecca Daniel, and her husband, Bradley, of Grovespring, Missouri; three sons, Robert Moore, and his wife, Rhonda, of Kansas City, Kansas, Lavon Moore, and his wife, Sandy, of Conway, Missouri and Chris Sloan, and his wife, Mary, of Lebanon, Missouri; twelve grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren; a brother, Lorraine Moore, of Grovespring, Missouri; a number of nieces and nephews; a special friend, Donna Traw; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
He lived his entire life in Laclede County, near Grovespring, Missouri. After he and Lois were married, they made their home in the Grovespring and Phillipsburg area and lovingly raised their family. Charles worked as a press operator for the H. D. Lee Company for many years, and then hauled wood and had various other jobs until retiring.
Charles had recently made his profession of faith in Christ and was ready to meet his Savior.
He loved being outdoors and particularly liked riding Fox Trotter horses. He enjoyed going to casinos and gambling. He liked eating fish and all kinds of pies. He was always straight forward and you never had to wonder what he was thinking. His family was very important to him and he especially enjoyed his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Charles was a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and was a caring friend. We celebrate his life and know that his family and friends will hold tight to the wonderful memories he made for them during his eighty-three years.
Funeral services for Charles Dean Moore will be Saturday, Feb. 6 at 11 a.m. at Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Lebanon. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Rev. Dean Davis will officiate the service. Burial will be in Mt. Zion Cuba Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Lebanon, Missouri.
