Charles "Chuck" Nimmo (Buffalo)'s Obituary
Charles Lee “Chuck” Nimmo departed this Earth on December 20th 2024, at the age of 87 due to post op complications from an amputation.
Chuck was born to John and Claudine Nimmo on June 20, 1937 in Charity, Missouri. Chuck graduated from Elkland High School and after graduation he attended school in Springfield and Kansas City where he became a CRNA. Chuck spent a majority of his career at Lake Regional Hospital till his retirement after working 48 years. During the early years of his career, he served as a First Lieutenant in the United States Army during the Vietnam war. He was a very proud veteran, and you hardly ever saw him without his veteran ball cap, which he proudly wore. After his retirement, Chuck also served as the Dallas County Coroner.
Chuck was united in marriage to the love of his life Carolyn on July 26, 1959. They spent over 59 years together and always stood by each other for better or worse. To this union, they added their children; daughter, Charlyn and son, Chad. He was the best father any child could ask for and we were so blessed to call him dad.
Chuck was preceded in death by his parents, John and Claudine Nimmo; his beloved wife, Carolyn; his mother-in-law, Velm Mallett; two grandsons, Alec and Cody; three sisters, Phyllis, Sharp, Marjorie Powell, and Helen Armstrong; and his brothers, John Nimmo, Doyle Nimmo and Bill Nimmo. He is survived by his daughter, Charlyn & husband Chris Bright; his son, Chad Nimmo; grandsons Jonathan Stafford and Cory Nimmo; and his great-grandson, Colton Bright who was his constant sidekick and little buddy; his sister Polly Liliguard; sisters-in-law, Mary Nimmo and Helen Shelenhamer; and brother-in-law, Buddy Armstrong. He is also survived by his best friend of 80 years, Don Morgans and numerous nieces and nephews, whom he loved very much.
Chuck was an epic hoarder, hardcore napper, bad driver, a diehard Chiefs and Cardinals fan, a lover of all things sweet, and his cheddar cheese. Most of all he loved telling his funny stories and jokes. The day of his death, he said, “I'm going to see if God can help the Chiefs with a 3 peat.” He never lost his sense of humor, even trying to sell his nurses and doctors right side shoes and even proudly announcing he had a new career at IHOP..
He will be deeply missed by those who knew him. He was kind, caring and would give anyone the shirt off his back. He will always be remembered for his wit and sense of humor. He always said, laughter is the best medicine and he brightened so many lives by a silly joke and conversations. We know he is now in heaven telling his jokes and mom is again doing her “Oh Chuck,” and rolling her eyes. HE WILL BE FOREVER LOVED AND ALWAYS MISSED.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, December 30, 2024 in the Cantlon-Otterness & Viets Funeral Home with Bro. Al Christian Officiating.
