Charles Pritchard, Jr. (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Charles Ellsworth Pritchard, Jr. was born in Kansas in his parents’ home on May 31, 1932, to Charles E. Pritchard, Sr. and Beulah Pritchard. He departed his Earthly life to his Heavenly life on Monday, January 6, 2025 at Lebanon North Nursing and Rehab in Lebanon, Missouri. He was ninety-two years, seven months and six days of age.
Charles was raised in Kansas, the youngest of four children and the only son. He loved the country life and knew that was the life for him.
On May 27, 1950, he was united in marriage to Georgia Christina Swigert and to this union, one daughter, Christina, and two sons, Charles III and Michael, were born.
In the early years of his life, he shingled houses for a living with his brother-in-law Winifred Spradling. He was involved in putting the roof on the first McDonald’s built in Kansas City.
Charles loved God with all his heart and was an ordained minister. He was a youth minister at an Assembly of God in Overland Park, Kansas and was involved with a Pentecostal Church in Lenexa, Kansas. Charles was always willing to speak at any church. He once preached a revival at Calvary Temple in Kansas City.
Charles shared with his family that before he came to know Jesus, he was an ornery guy. When his grandsons were little, they would make bets on how long it would take Grandpa to start talking about Jesus and how long his sermon would be, as well as what passage in the Bible he would read. Charles believed in the Word and wanted his family to know Jesus Christ and have a solid relationship with Him.
Charles and Georgia and their family moved quite a bit. Charles would buy and sell farms, raising cattle and had a few horses along the way. Georgia would joke that she was pretty sure he was part Gypsy.
In the 1990’s, Charles’s retired from farming and he and Georgia moved to the Lebanon and Richland, Missouri areas. While living in Richland, they experienced a house fire that destroyed the home. They built a new home and remained there until their health declined.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Beulah; his loving wife of nearly sixty-nine years, Georgia; his son, Michael; two granddaughters, Tracey Shively and Jennifer Pritchard; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Cleo and Alford, Eugenia and Winnie and Bonnie Jean.
He is survived by his daughter, Christina Shivley and her husband Charles of Prairie Home, Missouri; his son Charles Pritchard, III (Buster) and his wife Connie of Louisburg, Kansas; seven grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; his daughter-in-law, Kimberly Pritchard of Richland, Missouri; and a host of other relatives, friends, neighbors, and the staff at Lebanon North Nursing and Rehab.
Charles was a devoted family man and a friend to many, whose kindness and encouraging, supportive nature was rooted firmly in his Christian faith. His trust in Christ and love for Jesus grew throughout his life and was the distinguishing characteristic recognized by all who knew him.
