Charles Tait's Obituary
Charles Everett Tait, son of Walter Alvin and Ruth Etta Chapman Tait, was born June 6, 1931, near Long Lane, Missouri. He departed this life Monday, May 26, 2008, in St. John’s Hospital, in Springfield, Missouri, at the age of seventy-six years, eleven months, and twenty days. He was preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters, Erma Garner, and an infant, Pansy Tait. Charles is survived by his longtime companion, Betty Hufft, of Lebanon, Missouri; a daughter, Debbie; a son, Wayne Tait, of the State of Indiana; two brothers, James Tait, and his wife, Jeannie, of Lebanon, Missouri, and Carl Tait, of Buffalo, Missouri; a sister, Ina Marie Churchill, of Buffalo, Missouri; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends. He was born and raised in the Long Lane area and then entered the military as a young man. He served his country faithfully in the United States Army as part of the military police for five years. After being honorably discharged from the Army in 1953, he made his home in the Lebanon community where he worked as a carpenter and service station attendant throughout the years. In his spare time he liked being outdoors where his favorite activities were fishing, mowing and caring for his yard. He also enjoyed spending time with his family. Charles will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by all of his family and many friends. We celebrate his life and will treasure the memories he made for his family and friends. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 28, 2008, in the Holman-Howe Funeral Home, Lebanon. Burial will be in Mount Rose Memorial Park. Visitation will be held Tuesday evening from 7 - 8:30 p.m. under the direction of Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Lebanon, Missouri. Return to top
