Charles Wheelbarger (Bolivar)'s Obituary
Charles Robert “Bob Wheelbarger, 82, of Bolivar, MO passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by family on January 20, 2019.
Bob was born on March 8, 1936 to William Raymond “Ray” and Lillie Mae Wheelbarger. In 1954, he graduated from Breckenridge High School. On March 4, 1961, he married the love of his life, Donna Gene Fellows. The two would go on to have three children; Bobbi Gene “Genie” Jones, and twin boys James “Jim” Wheelbarger and Joseph “Joe” Wheelbarger.
After 21 years of working at Overnight Transportation and Farmland industries, Bob was able to retire. During his 15 years with Overnight Transportation, Bob received multiple awards for 2 million safe driving miles.
Bob was a truck driver at heart, but he also enjoyed many other hobbies. He loved to work on antique cars and tractors, a skill he joyfully passed on to his children and grandchildren. He was a gifted woodworker, and loved to relax by going fishing. He also loved Chiefs football, and his favorite hobby was to do all of these thing with those he loved the most: his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Bob was an active member of the Lakeside Assembly of God church for over 25 years. He loved the Lord and served him to the best of his abilities.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter; Genie Jones, one sister; Mary Lou Wheelbarger, two brothers; Bobby Ray and Carl Allen Wheelbarger, and two grandsons; Marshall Joseph Wheelbarger and Tyler Stewart Jones.
Bob is survived by his loving wife, Donna, of the home, two sons; Jim Wheelbarger and wife Holly of Bolivar, MO, and Joe Wheelbarger and wife Glena of Lee’s Summit, MO as well as 7 grandchildren; Robbie Flathers and wife Ashley of Springfield, TN, Cullen Flathers and wife Elizabetha of Lawson, MO, Cameron Wheelbarger of Lee’s Summit, MO, Makalyn Swartzentruber and husband Clayton of Buffalo, MO, Tyler Carnahan of Destin, FL, Kenton Carnahan of Harrisonville, MO, Cody Wheelbarger of Lee’s Summit, MO and Owen Wheelbarger of Lee’s Summit, MO. He is also survived by his seven great-grandchildren, with two on the way, as well as a host of other loved ones.
Memorial Services for Bob Wheelbarger will be held Saturday, February 2, 2019 at 12 PM at Lakeside Assembly of God Church in Pittsburg, MO, with his pastor Gary Parsons officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to CMH Hospice or the Lakeside Assembly of God Church.
