Charlie Decker (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Charlie Eugene Decker, son of Henry Richard and Lora Helen Morgan Decker, was born September 13, 1931, near Lebanon, Missouri. He departed this life Thursday, April 21, 2011, in Christian Health Care North, in Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of seventy-nine years, seven months, and eight days.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, William and Georgie Decker; and two sisters, Mary and Pearl Decker.
Charlie is survived by two brothers, Raymond Decker, and his wife, Lillian, of Wheatland, Missouri, and David Decker, and his wife, Mary Ann, of Lowell, Arkansas; two sisters, Phyllis Marcum, of Pea Ridge, Arkansas, and Lola Reid, of Lebanon, Missouri; a sister-in-law, Maebelle Decker, of Hartford City, Indiana; a number of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
He was born and raised in Laclede County, and attended Rippy School. Charlie continued to make his home in Lebanon throughout the years, and worked at the Lebanon R-III School Bus Barn and as a crossing guard. He had also worked for the City of Lebanon Road Crew for several years. He is perhaps best known for his work as a traffic director at the corner of Jefferson and Commercial Streets in downtown Lebanon.
Charlie was raised in the Thomas Chapel Church.
In his spare time he enjoyed watching wrestling on television and would often get very excited during close matches. His family was very important to him and he greatly enjoyed being around children.
Charlie was a loving brother and uncle, and was a kind and caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and know that he will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by all of his family and many friends.
