Charlotte Medley (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Charlotte Alma Watson Medley, daughter of Harry and Alma Haldiman
Meyer, was born September 3, 1929, in Jamestown, Missouri. She departed this life Monday, September 21, 2020, in Mercy Hospital, in Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of ninety-one years and eighteen days.
On October 5, 1948, she was united in marriage to Jack David Watson, and to this union five sons were born. Jack passed away on January 29, 1997 in Cape Girardeau, Missouri.
On August 21, 2004, she married Raymond Medley, Jr. and they shared the last sixteen years.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Harry Meyer
and John Meyer; and a sister, Carmen Layman.
Charlotte is survived by her husband, Raymond, of the home; five sons,
Steve P. Watson, and his wife, Stacy, of Lebanon, Missouri, David Watson, and his wife, Pat, of Farmington, Missouri, Bob Watson, and his wife, Lee, of Wappapello, Missouri, Bruce Watson, and his wife, Cindy, of Bonita Springs, Florida, and Doug Watson, and his wife, Judy, of Jackson, Missouri; a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren; two step-daughters, Mitzi Farricker, and her husband, Ed, of Glendora, California and Lorna Patterson, and her husband,
Tim, of Simsbury, Connecticut; several step-grandchildren; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
She was raised in the Lebanon, Missouri area and graduated from Lebanon High School. After she and Jack were married, they made their home in Cape Girardeau, Missouri where they owned and operated a retail shoe store for a number of years. Charlotte was a devoted homemaker to her husband and loving mother to her sons. Eventually, Charlotte made her home in the Camdenton area before returning to Lebanon. Charlotte worked in the Laclede County Courthouse for several years. Later, after she and Raymond were married, they enjoyed their retirement years together.
Charlotte made her profession of faith in Christ early in her life and was an
active member of First Baptist Church in Lebanon for many years. Later, she attended First United Methodist Church with Raymond.
She was a very active member of the Order of the Eastern Star for over fifty
years. She also belonged to the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Red Hat Society. She had served on the board of Hughes Senior Center and CMAAA. She enjoyed doing counted cross stitch and handiwork projects. She also liked gardening and growing beautiful flowers. Her family was very dear to her and she especially enjoyed having time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Memorial contributions to the First United Methodist Church of Lebanon, Missouri or the Sheperd's Pack Ministry at the First Christian Church in Lebanon, Missouri may be made through the funeral home. Family graveside services will be held Saturday, Sept. 26 at 11 a.m. at Lebanon Cemetery.
