Cheryl "Cheri" Edge (Buffalo)'s Obituary
Cheryl DeAun “Cheri” Edge passed away peacefully in her home Monday, May 1, 2023, following a brief illness. Her husband James was at her side as he had been for 58 years. Cheri was born in Springfield Missouri on November 7, 1944, to Dr. Carl N. and Louise (Button) Bailey. She was preceded by her parents, her brother Carl Bailey Jr, and her beloved daughter Tawnya Edge as well as her special canine baby, Dandy.
She is survived by her husband James, her son, Tony Edge of Blue Springs, Mo., her grandchildren, Jonnie Engeart (Shelby) of Urbana, Mo., Justin Edge of Blue Springs, Mo., Ashley Edge of Blue Springs, MO., Conner Edge of Independence, MO., Janner Kennedy of Preston, MO., Julia Edge of Blue Springs, MO.; her sister, Viki Gines of Hot Springs, Arkansas; a brother-in-law, Joe Edge (Polly) of Hermitage, MO.; her great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and numerous wonderful friends.
Cheri graduated from Skyline High School in 1962, valedictorian of her class. She attended College at Christian College in Columbia, MO., Arizona State University in Tempe, AZ., as well as Southwest Missouri State in Springfield, MO. She obtained her bachelor’s degree by attending night classes at William Jewell College in Liberty, MO., while working full time in the banking business. She retired from the Bank of Tacoma in Blue Springs, MO., after serving as Vice-President in charge of loans for several years.
Cheri enjoyed reading, and watching the hummingbirds around her beautiful home she and James bought near Pittsburg, Mo. She loved her family, her canine babies and her many many friends.
She will be greatly missed.
A Celebration of life will be held at the Shriners Club Highway 64, Hermitage, MO., on May 27 at 5 p.m. Friends and relatives are welcome to join us to share their of memories of Cheri.
Anyone wishing to dedicate a memorial to Cheri may do so to Shrines Hospital for Children’s in Saint Louis or any charity of choice.
