Chester Hale's Obituary
Mr. Chester Guy Hale, age 92 of Bolivar and a longtime resident of the Huron Community, passed away at 10:30 PM Thursday, July 16, 2009, at the Citizens Memorial Healthcare Facility in Bolivar, Missouri. Chester was born on February 19, 1917, the son of Pearl Elizabeth (Ashlock) Hale and Tommie Russell Hale. He was a member of the Mt. View Missionary Baptist Church at Polk, Missouri. Chester was united in marriage to Opal Mae (Frank) on May 21, 1938, in Bolivar, Missouri, and to this union four children were born, Shirley, Larry, Kay and Ron. Larry preceded him in death as did two sisters, Marceline (Ward) and Jereline (Warren,) and one brother, Garland. From 1947 to 1977, Chester owned and operated the Huron Store. He drove a school bus from 1953 to 1973 and Chester was elected to Four Terms as the Polk County Assessor, from 1973 to 1989. Chester is survived by his wife Opal Mae of 71 years; two daughters, Shirley Van Camp and Kay Holt and husband Harold all of Bolivar; and one son Ron Hale of Bolivar. Also his three grandchildren, Scott Van Camp of Jenks, Oklahoma; Stephen Holt and wife Rosetta of Reeds Spring, Missouri; and Sarah Holt of Reeds Spring, Missouri. And his four great grandchildren, Spencer, Morgan and Garrett Van Camp of Jenks, Oklahoma, and Jeremiah Holt of Reeds Spring, Missouri. Services will be held on Monday July 20, 2009 at the Butler Funeral Home in Bolivar. Burial will be in the Mt. View Cemetery. Visitation is Sunday afternoon 3-5:00pm at the funeral home under the direction of the Butler Funeral Home in Bolivar, Missouri. Return to top
