Chester Slate (Mansfield)'s Obituary
Chester Allan Slate, son of Otha Ray and Dorothy Anne LaFollette Slate, was born March 5, 1960 in Mountain Grove, Missouri and departed this life on January 4, 2020 in his home near Mansfield, Missouri at the age of fifty-nine years, nine months and twenty-nine days.
He was united to Sandra Richardson and to this union two children were born. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Brenda Craig, and nephew, Mike Henry. Chester is survived by his son, Donnie Slate and Samantha of Ava, Missouri; daughter, Becky LaFavor and husband, Danny Ray, of Stephenville, Texas; five grandchildren, Justus, Trenton, and Dayton of Ava, Missouri, Wyatt and Gunner of Stephenville, Texas; two sisters, Janice Henry and Shelia King; four brothers, Tom Slate, Carl Slate, John Slate, and T.J. Slate; several nieces, nephews and very close friends. He was born in Mountain Grove and raised in Mansfield where he attended Mansfield Schools. He was a sawmill and construction laborer most of his life. Chester attended church with his Granny Slate at a young age and recently rededicated his life to Christ. In his spare time, he watched Nascar and football, especially his favorite team that he “LOVED”, the Denver Broncos. He enjoyed being with his children and grandchildren and riding around on the weekends with some very dear friends. Chester was a loving father, grandfather, brother, uncle and a close friend to many. We will cherish those special times we had together.
