Chloe E Bond (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Chloe Edith Simpson Bond, daughter of William I. and Laura Bell Wrinkle Simpson, was born January 9, 1908, near Lebanon, Missouri. She departed this life Thursday, February 3, 2011, in Richland Care Center, in Richland, Missouri, at the age of one hundred three years, and twenty-four days.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, George Bond, in 1979; a son-in-law, Darwin Johnson; three brothers, John, Otto, and Owen Simpson; three sisters, Myrtle Hamilton, Josephine Stanton, and Mary Pearson; and two nephews, Bill Hamilton, and Jim Simpson.
Chloe is survived by a daughter, Lucille Johnson, of Lebanon, Missouri; a granddaughter, JoNel Cisco, and her husband, Jim, of St. Robert, Missouri; two great-grandchildren, T. J. Sapko, III, and Payton Chloe Sapko; two step-great-grandchildren, Mark and Aaron Cisco; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
She was raised in the Competition community, and attended Connor School. She then taught school for a few years. For many years, she and George made their home on their farm, near Lebanon, and she was a devoted homemaker to her husband and family. Later, she moved into Lebanon and made her home for several years.
Chloe was a longtime active member of Competition Baptist Church, where she cleaned the building and did almost everything but preach. After moving to Lebanon, she was an active member of Second Baptist Church.
She centered her life around her family and her church family. She was a very patriotic person and enjoyed working at the polls on election days. During her remarkably long life, she observed many amazing changes in the world around her and witnessed the sighting of two Haley’s Comets.
Chloe was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and aunt, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and know that the wonderful memories she created for her family and friends will live on forever.
