Christopher Ray Jones, son of John David Jones and Patricia Hylton was born May 30, 1963 in Springfield, Missouri and departed this life on April 17, 2011 in his home in Mansfield, Missouri at the age of forty-seven years, ten months and seventeen days.
He was preceded in death by his father, J.D. Jones; and his grandparents, Raymond and Edna Hylton and Clyde and Sarah Jones with whom he was very close.
Chris is survived by a daughter, Chelsea Jones; two sons, Nathan Jones and Caleb Jones; his mother, Pat Jones and a sister Danna Moore all of Mansfield, Missouri; step-mother, Ginger Holt and husband Jim of Harrisonville, Missouri; a half-brother, Jeff Jones and wife Nicole of Wichita, Kansas; a half-sister, Erin Jones of Greenwood, Missouri; many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews and a very special friend, Tammy Barrett of Mansfield.
Chris lived all of his life in Mansfield, graduating from Mansfield High School in the Class of 1981. He began working in his high school years at Town and Country Supermarket so he could have money to “run around on”. He then went to Bailey Technical School in Kansas City and worked at Wal-Mart in Harrisonville while going to school. Chris was a mechanic all of his adult working years starting at Reliable Chevrolet then Vincel Buick before going to Don Wessel Oldsmobile/ Honda where he had worked for the past 22 years.
Chris made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Mansfield First Baptist Church. He had also pastored at the Mount Ararat Missionary Baptist Church in Cabool for several years.
He was a founding member of the Mansfield Booster Club and loved Mansfield sports.
Chris was so proud of his children and was very involved in their activities in school. Every time Chelsea, Nathan or Caleb was involved in a band, music or sports activity Chris was there to show his support.
Chris was a loving father, son and brother and a caring neighbor and friend. We find ourselves in shock at his sudden passing but we know we will see him again in Heaven. Until then, we will cherish the wonderful memories.
