Christel H. Aubrey (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Christel Helene Aubrey, daughter of August and Helene-Anna Wick Braun, was born June 23, 1933, in Matzgirren (Kurrenberg) Germany. She departed this life Saturday, November 7, 2015, in Columbia Healthcare Center, in Columbia, Missouri, at the age of eighty-two years, four months, and fifteen days.
On December 20, 1957, in Hanau, Germany, she was united in marriage to Leo Albert Aubrey, Jr., and to this union two daughters and three sons were born.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Leo, on May 15, 1999.
Christel is survived by two daughters, Heidi Awes, of Hesperia, California, and Christina Henry and her husband, Richard, of Fredericksburg, Virginia; three sons, John Aubrey, of Pilot Grove, Missouri, Fred Aubrey, of Atlanta, Georgia, and Eric Aubrey, of Bettendorf, Iowa; a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren; a brother, Bruno, and two sisters, Gertrude and Ilse, all of Germany; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
She was born and raised in Germany and completed her high school education there. After she and Leo were married, they made their home in various locations while Leo served in the United States Army. They eventually came to Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, and after Leo retired in 1979, they continued to make their home in the Lebanon area. Throughout the years, Christel was a devoted and hardworking wife and mother.
She had enjoyed collecting antique toy model cars and coins, and liked traveling and reading. Her family was very important to her and she especially enjoyed having visits with her family and friends.
Christel was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and know that her family and friends will cherish the wonderful memories she created for them during her eighty-two years.
