Christina Woods' Obituary
Christina J. Woods, age 59, was called home to her Savior early on Tuesday morning, June 23, 2009 in her home in Bolivar, Missouri after a long struggle with illness. She was born on April 3, 1950 in Buffalo, Missouri to Lester E. Smith and Josephine A. Stafford. Her family lived in many places throughout the U.S., and eventually settled down in Buffalo. She found Christ on May 12, 1961, and was later baptized on May 14, 1961 at the Macedonia Baptist Church. On March 25, 1970, she married Charlie Woods, and since their union, resided in Bolivar where she raised her five children and worked outside of the home. She owned and worked with her husband at a local gas station, and was a cook in many of the local cafes. Her family and friends remember the spunk she had, including her quick wit, and how she always had a smile no matter what the circumstances were. She also loved to joke, and was fun to work with and be around. No matter who was around, she would always bring a smile and light up the room. She very much enjoyed spending time with family and especially with her grandchildren. She is survived by her husband, Charlie, five children, Nancy Davis and her husband Frank of Bolivar, Missouri, Randall Woods SMG of Fort Drum, New York, Jonathan Woods and his wife Michelle of Bolivar, Missouri, Mary Long and her husband Jamie of Bolivar, Missouri, Stephanie Doty RN and her husband Justin of Bolivar, Missouri, eight grandchildren, Meagan Woods, Benjamin Woods, Breanna Woods, Kristen Woods, Isaac Long, Emma Long, Katherine Doty and Ethan Doty all of Bolivar, Missouri, two sisters, Beverly Wieland of Bolivar, Missouri, Sandy Whillock of Buffalo, Missouri, one brother, Patrick Smith of Stafford, Missouri and many friends. She was preceded in death by her brother, Michael Smith, beloved parents, Lester & Josephine Smith, and her father and mother-in-law, Harry E. & Thelma V. Woods. She is much loved, and will be missed deeply by those who knew her. Cremation services are under the care and direction of the Butler Funeral Home in Bolivar, Missouri. Memorial services will be held in her & Charlie Woods’ home (located at 506 N. Chicago in Bolivar) on Thursday, July 2nd, 2009 starting at 2:00pm.
