Christine Nofziger (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Christine Evelyn Nofziger, daughter of James William and Myrtle Dell Isbell Kay, was born September 17, 1912, in Watsonville, California. She departed this life Wednesday, April 13, 2011, in Mountains Community Hospital, in Lake Arrowhead, California, at the age of ninety-eight years, seven months, and six days.
On May 22, 1937, she was united in marriage to Robert Alfred Nofziger, and to this union one daughter was born.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert, on January 9, 1996; a daughter, Roberta Scholz; and a sister, Lorraine.
Christine is survived by two grandsons, Robert Scholz, of Lake Arrowhead, California, and Richard Scholz, of Anthem, Arizona; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
She was raised in Salinas, California, and graduated from high school there. After she and Robert were married, they made their home in San Francisco and began raising their daughter. The family then moved to Central Valley, where they operated an orchard for several years. In the middle 1970’s, Christine and Robert retired to a farm in the Grovespring, Missouri area. In the late 1990’s, Christine worked at the Hartville Library.
Throughout her life, Christine was a devoted homemaker to her husband and family. In 2000, Christine moved back to California to be close to her grandsons.
Christine had attended Mount Calvary Lutheran Church since returning to California, and always enjoyed reading her Bible.
In her spare time she liked doing crossword puzzles, watching game shows, and her favorite program, “Dancing With The Stars”. She loved life, and to the very end maintained her strength and stamina along with her determination to not give up. She always had a beautiful smile and a twinkle in her eye.
Christine was a loving grandmother, and cousin, and was a kind and caring friend. We celebrate her life and know that her family and friends will cherish the wonderful memories she created for them throughout the years.
