Christopher Boelkes' Obituary
Christopher Alfred Boelkes, son of Frederick Christian and Louise Almira (Parker) Boelkes, was born November 23, 1919 in Rochelle, Illinois. He departed this life Friday, October 23, 2009 in his home, in Seymour, Missouri at the age of eighty-nine years and eleven months.
On December 20, 1940 he was united in marriage to Mary Ruth Bemis and to this union one daughter and one son were born.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary, on January 21, 2008; his parents; two brothers; and two sisters.
Christopher is survived by his daughter, Kathie Boelkes, of Seymour, Missouri; his son, Chris R. Boelkes, of Balboa Island, California; two grandchildren, Chrisine Segretto, of Seymour, Missouri, and Randy Boelkes, of Thailand; three great-grandchildren, Mason and Mariah Qualls, of Seymour, Missouri, and Taylor Boelkes, of Thailand; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
He was born and grew up in Illinois and served with the United States Navy during World War II and fought in the Battle of Okinawa. While still living in Illinois he retired from General Electric Corporation and later moved to Mountain Home, Arkansas to enjoy his retirement. He then made his home in Seymour, Missouri in 2003.
Christopher had made his profession of belief in Christ and was of the Catholic faith.
He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, VFW and American Legion in Illinois, Arkansas and in Seymour.
Christopher was a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and uncle and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and accomplishments and will cherish the wonderful memories he has created for his family and friends.
Graveside services were 4:00 P.M. Friday, October 23, 2009, in Seymour Masonic Cemetery with Father Paul Wightman officiating, under direction of Holman-Howe Funeral Home, of Seymour, Missouri.
