Cissy Mitchell-Banning (Mansfield)'s Obituary
Sheila "Cissy" Gay Mitchell passed away suddenly on October 21, 2016 at her home in Springfield, MO. She was 50 years old.
Cissy was born on December 17, 1965 in Independence, MO to Garrell Leo and Carolyn Sue Mitchell. She is a 1984 graduate of Mansfield High School and later received a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice from Missouri Southern State University in Joplin, MO.
She will fondly be remembered best for her kind heart and free spirit. She loved her family and friends and enjoyed being the life of the party. She was passionate about her hobbies and interests including her love for art. Cissy spent many years in the field of cosmetics; a place where she enjoyed expressing her creativity and making others feel beautiful. She leaves her family and friends with many fond memories of fun and laughter. She was a wonderful mother and she loved her sons very much.
Cissy is preceded in death by grandparents and parents.
She is survived by her two sons, Mitchell and Jackson Banning of Springfield, MO; a sister, Michelle Peck and husband Paul; two nieces, Tara Snelson and husband Landon, and Courtney Collins and husband Chad, all of Ava. Great-niece and nephews.
A memorial visitation service is planned for Saturday, October 29, from 2-4 at the Holman Howe Funeral Home in Mansfield, followed with a private family burial. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Harmony House in Springfield, MO, a place where Cissy volunteered many hours helping victims of domestic violence.
