On October 31, 1953, she was united in marriage to Darrell Winfrey, and to this union two daughters and one son were born.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and four brothers, Donald, Paul, Francis, and Merlin Potter.
Clara is survived by her husband, Darrell, of the home; two daughters, Diana Banks, and her husband, Dave, of Blue Springs, Missouri, and Dana Kay, and her husband, Richard, of Eldridge, Missouri; a son, John David Winfrey, of Stoutland, Missouri; six grandchildren, Lauren, Maria, Matthew, Michael, Justin, and Tyler; two great-grandchildren, Jacob, and Jeremiah; two sisters, Mary Wright, of the State of Kentucky, and Louise Willard, of Lebanon, Missouri; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
She was born and raised in Iowa, until her early teens, when the family moved to the Sleeper, Missouri community. The family then moved to Stoutland, Missouri, where Clara graduated from high school. She then made her home in St. Louis, Missouri for a few years, and worked for the telephone company. After she and Darrell were married, they made their home in Montreal, Missouri, before moving back to Stoutland, where they lovingly raised their children. In addition to being a devoted homemaker to her husband and family, Clara worked at McShane’s Store in Stoutland and at the Wal Mart Store in Lebanon for several years. She also helped her husband in the operation of their farm.
Clara had a Christian background and had established her own personal relationship with her Lord and Savior.
In her spare time she enjoyed reading, and was an excellent cook. She possessed a delightful sense of humor, and had a knack for fixing and doing all kinds of things. Her family was very important to her and she especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
