Clarence Jorgensen (Seymour)'s Obituary
Clarence Peter Jorgensen, son of Clarence Peter Jorgensen, Sr. and Mildred (Faber) Jorgensen, was born October 25, 1924 in Chicago, Illinois. He departed this life Wednesday evening, October 10, 2012 in Cox South Hospital, Springfield, Missouri at the age of eighty-seven years, eleven months and fifteen days.
He grew up in Chicago and was a graduate of Hirsch High School. Clarence faithfully served his country in the United States Air Force during World War II. Following his service he returned to Chicago and attended college in Chicago at Illinois Institute of Technology. Marrying his high school sweetheart, LaRoi, the young couple made their home in the Chicago land area where they raised their family. Upon receiving his Bachelor of Science degree, he became an engineer and worked his way up the ranks becoming Vice President of the Marble Head Lime Company. After more than thirty years, Clarence retired from the company and the couple moved, in 1980, to their farm in rural Seymour, Missouri. Where Clarence continued his love for horses, he brought his horse Mr. Jay, and raised cattle. In 1996, they moved to Springfield, Missouri, where he remained until his passing.
On January 31, 1948, he was united in marriage to LaRoi Winifred Pflaum and to this union a son and daughter were born. Clarence was a simple man that worked hard to provide for his family. He knew the importance of spending time with his children, and enjoyed the moments they had together.
Clarence had made Christ his Lord and Savior throughout his life and was a member of the Seymour United Methodist Church, and also attended the First Christian Church in Seymour. A generous and loving person, Clarence sought to live out his faith each day.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife of sixty-two years, LaRoi Winifred Jorgensen; his daughter-in-law, LaVerne Delores Jorgensen; and his brother-in-law Clinton D. Pflaum.
He leaves behind his son Eric Peter Jorgensen and fiancé Mary Ellen Jesso, of Lansing, Illinois; his daughter Janet LaRoi Williams-Eustace and husband John Raymond Eustace, of New Lenox, Illinois; three grandsons, Keith Eric Jorgensen, Brian Peter Jorgensen, and Blake Allen Williams; great-grandchildren Payton LaVerne Jorgensen and Caleb Roland Jorgensen; as well as a host of other dear family and friends.
Clarence was a devoted husband, a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and a caring friend and neighbor. A faithful man, Clarence served his Lord, his family and his country leaving behind hope in the truth that through our Lord Jesus we will meet again. We celebrate his life and accomplishments and will cherish all the wonderful memories he created for those he loved.
