Clay Martin (Urbana)'s Obituary
Clay Vernon Martin, son of the late Bernie E. and Pebble (Stidham) Martin was born on January 22, 1926 in Urbana, MO, and departed this life on February 1, 2018 at Mercy Hospital in Springfield, MO. At the time of his passing he was 92 years and 8 days of age.
Clay was reared and attended school in the Urbana, MO area, and graduated from Tunas High School. After High School, Clay served his Country during World War II as a Medic. After his service, Clay operated a fertilizer spreading business for many years. He was united in marriage to Betty Jo , and to this union of 60 years, one daughter blessed the home. He enjoyed spending time on the family farm raising his pet cows, chickens, cats, and his dog Mose. He also loved fishing and in the last ten years, he loved dancing the 2-step and the Waltz. Clay was an Elder of the Tunas Christian Church.
Clay was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Betty Jo Martin; and his brother, James Clinton “Red” Martin. He is survived by his daughter, Barbara & husband Riley Bell of Urbana, MO; two grandchildren, Jeanne Groh and Julie Webb; three great-grandchildren, Brandon, Jacob, and Cody; and one great-great-grandson, Oliver. He also leaves other family members and many friends who will all truly miss him.
