Cleo Elam (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Cleo Elam, son of Charley and Mary Ellen Reid Elam, was born October 9, 1934, near Brownfield, Missouri. He departed this life and went to Heaven Saturday, February 25, 2017, in Lake Regional Hospital, in Osage Beach, Missouri, at the age of eighty-two years, four months, and sixteen days.
On December 11, 1954, he was united in marriage to Dorothy May Bohannon, and to this union two daughters and one son were born.
He was preceded in death by his parents; six brothers, Homer, Frank, Robbie, Earnest, Floyd Elam, and an infant; and two sisters, Marie Anderson, and Irene Harrill.
Cleo is survived by his loving wife of sixty-three years, Dorothy, of the home; two daughters, Deanna Scrivener, and her husband, Mark, and Diane Slavens, and her husband, Tommy, all of Lebanon, Missouri; a son, Dennis Elam, and his wife, Jeannie, of Lebanon, Missouri; six grandchildren, Michelle Frazier, and her husband, Tommy, Michael Scrivener, Lindsey Scrivener, Denise Elam, Barbie Chapman, and Brittany Lyman; two great-grandchildren, Joshlyn Chapman, and Bryson Lyman; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
He was born and raised in the Lebanon area, and graduated from Lebanon High School in the Class of 1953. After he and Dorothy were married, they made their home in Lebanon, and lovingly raised their family. Cleo worked for Campbell 66 Express for many years, and then was employed by the City of Lebanon in the Waste Water Management Department for eighteen years.
Cleo had professed his faith in Christ and was a member of North Five Freewill Baptist Church. He taught Sunday school for many years, and enjoyed studying his Bible in preparation for his lessons.
In his spare time he enjoyed going to garage sales, fishing and hunting. His family was very important to him and he especially enjoyed having time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Cleo was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and know that he will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by all of his family and friends.
A memorial has been established to the Roper Cemetery.
