Cleota B Slack (Buffalo)'s Obituary
Cleota B. Slack, daughter of the late Everett and May R. (Gaunt) Gann was born on March 27, 1925 in Charity, MO, and departed this life on Saturday, November 24, 2018 in Sedalia, MO. At the time of her passing she was 93 years, 7 months, and 26 days of age.
Cleota was raised and attended school in the Charity, MO area. After her schooling she was united in marriage to Lloyd Almon Slack on April 5, 1942, and to this union four children were born, three of whom survive her. They made their home in Marshall, MO where she worked for Con Agra. After her retirement she moved to Nemo, MO. She was an active member of the Hermitage Baptist Church and took care of the children in the Church nursery for 25 years. Cleota was a loving and caring woman who always had time to help those in need. She was an avid seamstress and quilter, making many wedding and prom dresses. She was an excellent artist and loved to paint. She also enjoyed spending time outdoors fishing and camping.
Cleota was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years Lloyd Slack; one daughter, Linda Kessler; her parents; two sisters, Leota Jones and an infant sister; and her daughter-in-law, Lynda Slack. She is survived by her son, Lloyd Almon Slack, Jr. of Cape Coral, FL; two daughters, Marlys & husband C. T. Jacobi of Sedalia, MO and Lila M. & husband Brad Heffel of Cape Coral, FL; nine grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren. She also leaves other family members and friends who will all truly miss her.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 28, 2018 at the Cantlon Otterness & Viets Funeral Chapel with Pastor Jeremy Hostetler officiating. Escorts will be Mark Southard, Jake Jacobi, Justin Jacobi, Brandon Heffel, Jason Slack, and David Turpin. Honorary escorts will be Brian Heffel, Jeff Slack, Dereck Turpin, Jacob Jacobi, Zak Southard, Hunter Southard, Gunnar Southard, Garrett Oakes, Kyle Dirck, and Tristan Heffel. Interment will be in the Memorial Gardens of Memory Cemetery under the direction of the Cantlon Otterness & Viets Funeral Home of Buffalo. Visitation will be from 10:00-11:00 a.m. Wednesday at the Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Hermitage Baptist Church.
