Clifford Cooper's Obituary
Clifford Elston Cooper, son of Ralph Clifford and Chloe Bessie (Osborne) Cooper, was born May 24, 1928, in Greenway, Arkansas. He departed this life Tuesday, August 28, 2007, in St. John’s Hospital, in Springfield, Missouri, at the age of seventy-nine years, three months, and four days. On October 2, 1949 he was united in marriage to Dorothy Gilley and to this union three daughters were born. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Dorothy, on June 22, 1993; two daughters, Carole Bradley, and Cheryl Joki; a sister, Norma Taylor; and a brother, Bill Cooper. Clifford is survived by a daughter, Charlotte Pitt, and her husband, Shawn, of St. Louis, Missouri; six grandchildren, Eric Joki, and his wife, Dana, Ryan Joki, and his wife, Emily, Mandy Johnston, and her husband, Waylyn, Ali Pitt, Lara and Sara Bradley; two great-grandchildren, Ethan and Adalyn Joki; a sister, Della Stoudt, and her husband, Merrill, of West Plains, Missouri; a son-in-law, Reg Joki, of Antioch, Tennessee; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends. He was born and raised in Mansfield and graduated from Mansfield High School in the class of 1946. He then entered the United States Navy where he worked as a barber until being honorably discharged. He also had a barber shop in Hartville and then in Mansfield for fifty years. Clifford had made his profession of faith in Christ and was a member and elder of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church, of Mansfield, and was a former Sunday School Superintendent. He was also a member of the Clarence King Post # 128. In his spare time he enjoyed being outdoors, turkey hunting, fishing, hiking, camping, and loved working in his garden. Clifford was a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and uncle, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and accomplishments and will treasure the wonderful memories he has created for his family and friends. Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, August 31, 2007, in the Cumberland Presbyterian Church, Mansfield. Burial will be in the Hensley Cemetery. Visitation will be held Thursday evening from 7 - 8:00 p.m. under the direction of Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Mansfield, Missouri. Memorials to the Cumberland Presbyterian Church may be made through the funeral home.
