Clifford "John" York (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Clifford John York, son of Milford and Gertrude Z. McKinnon York, was born February 5, 1960, in Waynesville, Missouri. He departed this life Saturday, October 31, 2020, in Mercy Hospital, in Lebanon, Missouri, of COVID-19 complications, at the age of sixty years, eight months, and twenty-six days.
On July 5, 1981, he was united in marriage to Diana Bench, and to this union two daughters were born.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and an aunt and uncle, Junie and Tommy Avey.
John is survived by two daughters, Leah Barlow, of Lebanon, Missouri, and Melissa Smith, and her husband, Scott, of Columbia, Missouri; two grandchildren, Terry and Jayden; two brothers, Rick York, of Camdenton, Missouri, and Rex York, and his wife, Michelle, of the State of North Carolina; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
He was born and raised in Pulaski County and graduated from Waynesville High School. After he and Diana were married, they made their home in the Richland, Missouri area and lovingly raised their daughters. John worked at various occupations through the years, including construction work, helping at Crosslines Ministry, and at Landau Boats. He was a “jack of all trades” kind of guy.
In his spare time he enjoyed being outdoors where he liked fishing, teasing, and camping. He also enjoyed traveling with his brothers. He liked playing cards, and enjoyed westerns, especially ones with John Wayne, and also liked to grill. His family was very important to him and he especially enjoyed his grandchildren.
John was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and was a caring friend. We celebrate his life and know that his family and friends will hold tight to the wonderful memories he made for them during his lifetime.
