Clinton Taylor (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Clinton Taylor, son of George Clinton and Berniece Baker Taylor, was born March 28, 1925, in Marion, Louisiana. He departed this life Thursday, January 13, 2011, in his home, near Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of eighty-five years, nine months, and fifteen days.
On December 1, 1967, he was united in marriage to Virginia Lorene Toops, and they shared the last forty-three years.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and five brothers, Huey, Houston, and Jim Taylor, and John, and Corbert Reppond.
Clinton is survived by his loving wife, Virginia, of the home; a son, Matthew Taylor, of Lebanon, Missouri; a daughter, Barbara Hamill, and her husband, Hunter, of Houston, Texas; four grandchildren, Lauren, Nick, Shannon, and Adam; a sister, Jean Shaddic, of Marion, Louisiana; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
He was born and raised in Louisiana and then entered the military as a young man. He enlisted in the United States Navy in 1942, and served for four years. He then joined the United States Air Force where he served for over twenty years. He took part in the Berlin Airlift, and was stationed in Germany, Guam, and the South Pacific, in addition to being in various places stateside. He received a World War II Victory Medal, a Korean Service Medal, an Asiatic Campaign Medal, two Good Conduct Medals and a Soldiers Medal. He officially retired from the Air Force on October 14, 1965. After he and Virginia were married, they made their home in Missouri, and lovingly raised their children. Clinton worked as a salesman for the Hauck Chevrolet Dealership in St. Robert, Missouri, for over fifteen years. He and Virginia later moved to Lebanon and made their home.
In his spare time he enjoyed being outdoors where his favorite activities were hunting, fishing, and working in his garden. He was always helping his neighbors and sharing his homegrown produce with them. His family was always central in his life and he greatly enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Clinton was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and know that he will be fondly remembered as a devoted family man, a decorated soldier, and a good friend.
