Clyde Caudle's Obituary
Clyde Wilson Caudle, son of A. L. and Lucinda Bohannon Caudle, was born April 6, 1917, near Competition, Missouri. He departed this life Saturday, September 6, 2008, in St. John’s Hospital, in Springfield, Missouri, at the age of ninety-one years, and five months. Early in his life, he was united in marriage to Doris Nadine Morton, who preceded him in death in 1975. On April 16, 1997, he was united in marriage to Della Maxine Jones-Thomas, and together they shared the last eleven years. He was also preceded in death by his parents; two daughters, Nicole Caudle, and Karen Sullivan; an infant son; five brothers, Sam, Clarence, Jim, Oval, and Floyd Caudle; and six sisters, Doshia Royster, Nellie Nelson, Delphie Decker, Verba Cromer, Ruth Mings, and Pauline Caudle. Clyde is survived by his wife, Della Maxine, of the home; four daughters, Darlene Lindsey, Judy Cotrel, and her husband, Sonny, and Kathy Toops, and her husband, Dennis, all of Lebanon, Missouri, and Dena Caudle, of the State of Kansas; four sons, Jimmy Caudle, and his wife, Brenda, and Wayne Caudle, and his wife, Lois, both of the State of Kansas, Mike Caudle, and his wife, Kathy, of Lebanon, Missouri, and Danny Caudle, and his wife, Diane, of Cuba, Missouri; a step-daughter, Janis Foote, of Lebanon, Missouri; two step-sons, Danny Thomas and Bob Thomas, both of Lebanon, Missouri; thirty-four grandchildren; sixty-five great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends. He was born and raised in the Competition, Missouri area. He then served his country faithfully in the United States Navy, during World War II. After being honorably discharged from the Navy in 1945, he and Nadine made their home on their farm, near Lebanon. Throughout the years, Clyde worked on his farm and was also employed by the Independent Stave Company for several years. Clyde had made his profession of faith in Christ and attended Oak Grove Baptist Church, near Lebanon. In his spare time he enjoyed being outdoors where his favorite activities were fishing and coon hunting. He also liked watching all kinds of sporting events on television. His family was very important to him and he enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren. Clyde was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, great-great-grandfather, and uncle, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and know that the wonderful memories he made for his family and friends will live on forever. Services will be held at 2:00 pm Wednesday September 10, 2008 at the Holman- Howe Funeral Home, Lebanon. Burial will be in the Lebanon, Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday evening from 7-8:30 pm under the direction of the Holman- Howe Funeral Home Lebanon, Missouri. A memorial has been established to the Association for the Visially Impaired.
