Cody Michael Burks (Seymour)'s Obituary
Cody Burks, beloved son of Michelle Kimball, passed away in the early hours of Saturday, January 17, 2015, surrounded by family at his home in rural Seymour. Cody was twenty-one years, seven months and four days young.
Cody Michael Burks was born June 13, 1993, in Springfield, Missouri, to Michelle Lee Kimball and Travis Gene Burks. He was home-schooled and raised with the love and care of his entire family. Cody had a contagious smile, sparkling eyes and an innocent heart. He also had a wicked sense of humor and no one was safe from his practical joking. Cody adored his dog Rusty, who never left his side. Playing video games was one of his favorite things to do, and he was good at them. Cody was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Dorothy E. Kimball; and paternal grandparents, J.D. and Patsy Ann Burks. He is survived by his mother, Michelle Kimball of the home in Seymour; his father, Travis Burks of Rogersville, Missouri; his sister, Jessica Burks of the home; maternal grandfather, Richard Kimball of the home; uncle, Gene Kimball and wife Jill, of Seymour; aunt, Melessia Kanel and husband Erick of Seymour; four first cousins, Randy Kimball and wife April, Brian Kimball, Andrew Kanel (currently stationed in Virginia) and Samantha Kanel, all of Seymour; and many more extended family and friends – Cody was loved by and belonged to everyone who knew him. Cody was a dearly-loved son, brother, grandson, nephew and cousin. He was adored by family and friends. Though there were challenges, his twenty-one years were filled with fun, adventure, happiness and love, and those moments created memories that will be cherished in our hearts. Cody always had a smile on his face and that smile will forever be remembered.
