Colette Hicks (Camdenton)'s Obituary
Colette Ida Hicks (Buechter) passed away on May 7, 2024, at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri, at the age of 68. Colette had recently fought a brave battle with esophageal cancer and finally succumbed to complications of this disease. She was born on March 14, 1956, in Iberia, Missouri, to the late Norbert and Irene Buechter.
Colette was a devoted wife to Richard Hicks, a loving mother to Shonna Rakes (Allen), and Jamie Geromini (Nathan), and a cherished grandmother to Fayth Bisby (Zoe), Emma Rakes (Coleson Schhiefelbein), Dakota Geromini (Hannah), McKae Geromini, Jozie Geromini, Ava Geromini, Kendall Geromini, and great-grandson Emmett. She was also survived by her siblings Linda Volmert, Michael Buechter (Josie), Chrissy Smith (Dennis), Marlene Bax, Beverly Murray (Dennis), and Patrick Buechter (Diana). As well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Colette is preceded in death by her parents Norbert and Irene, and brothers-in-law Jim Volmert and John Bax.
Colette spent her teenage summers working at Kirkwood Lodge, where she met her husband, Richard. They shared 50 years of marriage together. She dedicated 44 years of her career to MarineMax, starting as a Marine Store Clerk and advancing to a Financial Analyst. After MarineMax, she worked part-time as a Financial Analyst/Consultant at Big Thunder Marine where she worked until she became sick.
In her free time, Colette enjoyed spending time with her family, traveling, watching sports (both professional and her grandkids), and reading. She was known for her compassionate nature, her tell it like it is attitude, and the active role she played in her grandchildren's lives.
A ceremony in honor of Colette will be held 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 15, 2024 at Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home in Camdenton, Missouri. A Visitation will be held from 12:00-2:00 p.m., prior to the celebration in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society Hope Lodge in St. Louis, Missouri.
Colette Hicks will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who knew her.
