Connie Oughton's Obituary
Anne Cornelia “Connie” Oughton, daughter of Louis C. and Marie Paeben Pahl, was born September 15, 1921, in St. Louis, Missouri. She departed this life Tuesday, December 15, 2009, in Christian Health Care North, in Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of eighty-eight years, and three months. On September 12, 1942, she was united in marriage to Milton John Oughton, and to this union two daughters and one son were born. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Milton, on January 28, 2001; a daughter, Mary Ann Oughton; a brother, Louis Pahl; and two sisters, Marian Chartrand, and Dorothy Cartlidge. Connie is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Syndee and Scott Chase, of Lebanon, Missouri; a son and daughter-in-law, Carl and Linda Oughton, of Springfield, Missouri; five grandchildren, Christopher Oughton, and his wife, Cari, Heather Gripka, and her husband, Brad, Matthew Chase, and his wife, Kelli, Joshua Chase, and Sarah Chase; five great-grandchildren, Madison, Riley, Hailey, Camryn, and Parker; a brother, Harold Pahl, of Lee’s Summit, Missouri; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and many friends. She was born and raised in St. Louis, Missouri, and graduated from Hadley High School. After she and Milton were married, they lived in various places, including Bakersfield, California, Phoenix, Arizona, and Washington State while he was serving in the military. At the conclusion of World War II, Connie and Milton returned to St. Louis where they made their home and lovingly raised their children. Throughout the years, Connie was a devoted homemaker to her husband and family. In 1966, they moved to Table Rock Lake where they owned and operated Wildwood Resort near Kimberling City. They officially retired in 1975, and came to live in Lebanon in 1991. Connie made her profession of faith in Christ early in her life. In 2001, she chose to follow the Lord in baptism in the First Baptist Church of Lebanon, where she was a member for several years. In her spare time she enjoyed gardening, growing beautiful flowers, and sewing. She also liked decorating her home for the holidays. She possessed a keen and delightful sense of humor and was the epitome of a gracious lady. She greatly enjoyed spending time with her family and dearly loved her cat “Queenie”. Connie was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and aunt, and was a kind and caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and know that the special memories she created for her family and friends will live on forever. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday December 19, 2009 at the Holman-Howe Funeral Home Lebanon. Entombment will be in the Mt.
